Home Repair and Construction Task Force
Each year the Office of the Illinois Attorney General receives thousands of complaints involving disputes between homeowners and home repair contractors. As a resource for Illinois residents, OAG has a Home Repair and Construction Task Force.
The Task Force reviews and answers complaints received by the Attorney General and Better Business Bureau concerning home repair and construction issues for the public. The Task Force also reviews selected stated licensing laws as well as Illinois municipal codes.
Overall, the Task Force holds meetings to discuss: whether the residents of Illinois would benefit from legislation requiring home repair and construction service providers to obtain a license from the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation before offering theses services in Illinois, and also makes recommendations to the General Assembly.
