SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This supervisory position, under the direction of a superior, oversees customer requests to ensure appropriate responses. The Network Administrator/Supervisor shall provide weekly status reports of activities, problems, and responses as well as personnel issues.
Under the direction of a superior, the Network Administrator/Supervisor shall: supervise and direct the implementation of projects in the Chicago and Springfield offices; coordinate a complex, multiple-computer information system; develop, plan, and implement a local area network management system (enabling the administrator to track devices on a network, documenting and reporting network errors, ensuring efficient operation of the network, and keeping the network secure from unauthorized access, as well as invasion by computer viruses); provide network administration and technical assistance for the Office of the Attorney General (OAG); monitor performance of all servers associated with the OAG LAN (overseeing all hardware modifications to the servers); maintain all operating systems supporting OAG applications; maintain and oversee all office computer hardware; oversee all projects assigned to the Technical Coordinators in Chicago and Springfield; maintain OAG software and hardware inventories; coordinate OAG needs with CMS (WAN); maintain anti-virus software on servers, laptops, and desktop computers; and troubleshoot all network connectivity.
The Network Administrator/Supervisor acts as security officer, and is responsible for establishing access required as approved by Senior Management. The Network Administrator/Supervisor shall work with other team members in developing and maintaining a disaster recovery plan for all OAG locations; participate in . budget analysis and preparation; serve as a technical advisor on major system changes; and recommend and oversee any consultants needed to complete projects. Other duties may be assigned by Executive Staff members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline with course work in networking and logic, plus three to five years professional experience in information systems, specifically local area network systems. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills, time management skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a confidential environment are essential. This position requires the ability to complete assignments timely with limited or no supervision, as well as the ability and willingness to travel as needed. Attendance and the ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the general public are essential functions of this position.

HOURS OF WORK: 8:45am – 4:45pm (Monday - Friday)
