Title:   Deputy Chief of Civil Medicaid Fraud
Division: Criminal Enforcement

Under the direction of the Director of the Medicaid Fraud Control Bureau, the Deputy Chief of Civil Medicaid Fraud of the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit is responsible for directly supervising attorneys litigating civil allegations of Medicaid fraud, abuse, and neglect, across the state.  This includes visiting the regional offices to supervise attorneys assigned to those offices.  The Deputy Chief of Civil Medicaid Fraud will perform, with the Director and Deputy Director, quarterly case reviews with attorneys to ensure that civil investigations and cases are progressing and are being handled appropriately, and to support the attorneys working those cases, including reviewing motions, complaints, settlement memoranda, and other case-related documents.  The Deputy Chief will be responsible for assigning new investigations and complaints, ensuring that case files are properly maintained, and will be engaged in healthcare fraud task forces across the state. They will also handle cases as needed.  The Deputy Chief will work with the Deputy Director and Director to hire new attorneys, and plan training and programming opportunities for the attorneys.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensed to practice law by the Illinois ARDC and at least five years of experience in litigating civil fraud cases.  Attendance and the ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other agency law enforcement personnel, OAG employees and the general public are required. Travel is required along with a valid Illinois driver’s license and a responsible driving record.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Experience conducting civil investigations, including Qui Tam investigations; extensive state and/or federal experience litigating fraud; experience in discovery, litigation, motion practice, and settlements, as well as trials, research and writing.


SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience
