DuPAGE COUNTY MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE

Chicago — Attorney General Lisa Madigan said that a DuPage County man was arrested Thursday after a search of his residence turned up three computers allegedly used in the distribution and possession of child pornography.

Woodridge Police arrested Andrew J. Bykowski, 22, of the 3400 block of Woodridge Drive. He was charged with Possession of Child Pornography, a Class 3 felony, and is being held in the DuPage County Jail. A bond hearing is scheduled for today.

"My office is dedicated to working with local law enforcement to investigate child pornography," said Madigan.

The charge is the result of an undercover operation initiated by investigators in Attorney General Madigan's High Tech Crimes Bureau in October of 2009. As part of the investigations, investigators traced computers allegedly dealing in child pornography to Bykowski. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will conduct the forensic examination of the computers seized at Bykowski's residence.

The DuPage County State's Attorney Office will prosecute the case. The public is reminded that the charges are merely accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Through her High Tech Crimes Bureau, the Attorney General oversees the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force with a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. The Illinois ICAC task force is one of 62 similar organizations nationwide designed to investigate child exploitation crimes and provide Internet safety education and training programs. Through December 1, 2009, the Illinois ICAC task force provided Internet safety training and education to more than 103,700 parents and students and 9,045 law enforcement officers and prosecutors.
