Attorney General Lisa Madigan announces the release of a 2007 Safe Shopping Guide to help parents steer clear of recalled children's products as they shop for holiday gifts.  The guide contains color photos and descriptions of hundreds of products recalled during 2007, including toys, jewelry, furniture and clothes. Copies of the guide, including editions with background information in Spanish and Polish, are available free to consumers at all of the Attorney General's main and regional offices. Attorney General Lisa Madigan stands with former U.S. Senator George McGovern, center, and actor Sam Waterston during the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law's 2007 Awards Dinner and 40 th Anniversary celebration in Chicago. Waterston was the evening's host and later presented Senator McGovern with the "Sargent Shriver Award for Equal Justice" for his lifelong work to end poverty through practical and affordable policy solutions and action.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan stands with British Consul General in Chicago James Clark, left, and The Right Honorable Tessa Jowell, Member of Parliament, during the Metropolitan Planning Council's (MPC) 2007 Annual Meeting Luncheon in Chicago. Jowell was the keynote speaker during the lunch and spoke to attendees about her experiences since being appointed Minister for the Olympics in anticipation of London's hosting the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, and offered guidance to Chicago officials vying to host the 2016 Olympic Summer Games.

The event was sponsored by the The Chicago Reporter magazine, The Community Renewal Society and The Chicago Urban League. Madigan was the keynote speaker during the event, which showcased results of a study published by the Reporter detailing the extent of the crisis in the Chicago region.
