Attorney General Lisa Madigan Tuesday said a new law that becomes effective January 1 will be a critical part of a statewide response to keep criminals from manufacturing methamphetamine. Madigan was joined

Jim Winters, Illinois State Police, Dave Lenartowicz, DEA, Rick Robbins, Undersheriff of Montgomery County, Lt. Attorney General Lisa Madigan outlines Senate Bill 2244

Joined Thursday in Rock Island by law enforcement and

local officials from Illinois and Iowa, Attorney General Lisa Madigan outlined how Senate Bill 2244 will distinguish Illinois as having one of the nation’s toughest anti-methamphetamine laws. SB 2244 is Madigan’s latest effort to help curb meth production and use and currently awaits the Governor’s signature. For more information, click here.


6/10/04 MADIGAN: BILL TARGETS “SUPPLY SIDE” OF METH PROBLEM

On Thursday, Attorney General Lisa Madigan visited Southern and Western Illinois as part of a three-city fly-around to discuss Senate Bill 2244, legislation aimed at fighting the production and spread of methamphetamine. SB 2244 will help keep key meth ingredients out of the hands of criminals by imposing limits on the placement and sale of adult-strength cold tablets containing ephedrine or pseudoephedrine.

Madigan's was joined by local and state law enforcement and officials at Brown Drug Co., in Quincy, during her final stop of the day.

Attorney General Lisa Madigan announces meth legislation

Attorney General Lisa Madigan Tuesday announced legislation to make it harder for criminals to obtain large quantities of over-the-counter drugs that are key ingredients in making methamphetamine. Joined by legislators and law enforcement at a news conference in the State Capitol, Madigan said cutting off the easy flow of ephedrine and pseudoephedrine to criminals is a critical first step in stopping meth production.
