Every Cent Counts for Seniors

Every cent counts when you’re living on a fixed income, especially in today's economy. Understanding your rights and options as a consumer is the key to making the most of your dollar and safeguarding your finances. We created these fact sheets below to help you develop that understanding. In them you will find information about the ins and outs of reverse mortgages, protecting yourself from identity theft, how to avoid counterfeit check scams, and more.

Not all financial difficulties can be avoided, but many can be overcome. If you're in a financial crisis, your situation does not have to go from bad to worse.

The Silver Beat

In addition, in order to ensure that seniors have the knowledge and tools they need to better protect themselves from con artists and deceptive business practices, the Attorney General’s Office has launched the Silver Beat educational program.

Click here to learn more about the program. If you are interested in attending or hosting a Silver Beat training, please contact Eileen Baumstark-Pratt at 1-866-376-7215 or e-mail at For more information in Spanish, click here, and for Polish, click here.
