SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of the Chief Fiscal Officer, the Deputy Chief Fiscal Officer is responsible for the management and oversight of the fiscal and accounting operations of the Office.
The Deputy Chief Fiscal Officer directs a comprehensive accounting program that must comply with Generally Accepted Governmental Accounting Principles (GAAP), statutory accounting requirements, and the Office’s fiscal policies and procedures. The duties of the position include maintaining a complex accounting system involving funds and grants, implementing procedures relating to the tracking and collection of all accounts receivable, automating accounting functions, providing information and responses to audit inquires, and supervising the activities of the accounting staff. In overseeing the accounting operations, the Deputy Chief Fiscal Officer coordinates with the staff overseeing the Office’s budget and administrative programs.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration or a related field, along with three years of progressively responsible management experience in governmental accounting or budgeting, a working knowledge of the Illinois Comptroller’s Statewide Accounting Management System manual, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. A master’s degree and/or a professional certification in a related field are preferred. The ability to effectively use available software applications, including Microsoft Excel, is critical. Attendance, professionalism, integrity and the ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees, as well as with other agencies and institutions are essential to this position.
Hours of Work: 8:45 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
