The Public Aid Bureau represents the Department of Healthcare and Family Services in child support enforcement actions. The Bureau may represent the Department Healthcare and Family services or the Department of Human Services in personal injury lien recoveries, decedent and incompetent estate liens and claims, administrative review, excess assistance recoveries and miscellaneous matters. The Assistant Attorney General prepares and tries case in state and federal courts; interviews witnesses, prepares pleadings and conducts research for trials; responds to pre-trial motions; attends various courts for arraignments, hearings, pretrial and post trial motions; and prepares periodic activity reports. This position requires skills for presenting and arguing cases in court and/or administrative hearings and must maintain working relationships with court officials and client agencies. Knowledge of the principles of civil and criminal law and of the methods and practices of pleading and discovery is necessary. This position requires knowledge of judicial procedures and rules of evidence. This position will require travel to other counties.
Salary: Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, the salary range is $50,500 to $67,500. Candidates must be licensed in Illinois at the time of application.
