Job OpportunitiesAssistant Attorney General - Public Access CounselorTitle: Public Access Counselor – Assistant Attorney General Division: Public Access and Opinions Location: Springfield or Chicago Description: The Public Access and Opinions Division is seeking candidates for the position of Public Access Counselor – Assistant Attorney General to lead the office’s Public Access team of attorneys and staff. The Public Access Counselor: Qualifications: Candidates must possess excellent legal research, writing and oral presentation skills. Candidates also must demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, government officials and members of the media. Experience in journalism or experience in working with local or state government bodies is preferred. Experience with the state legislative process is a plus. Candidates must be licensed to practice law in Illinois at the time of application. The ideal candidate will have five or more years of experience in law, journalism or government service in a position involving familiarity with the open government laws.
