Division: Public Access and Opinions
The Public Access and Opinions Division is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Attorney General. The Public Access and Opinions Division advises State officers and State agencies on matters related to their official duties and provides legal support to the Administration of the Attorney General's office. Among other things, the Division responds to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests submitted for records of the Office of the Attorney General, as well as coordinates rulemakings, reviews contracts, and drafts legislation. The successful candidate will work with the Attorney General's FOIA Officer to assess and respond to FOIA requests and perform other duties assigned by the Division Chief.
Qualifications: Candidates must be licensed by the State of Illinois at the time of application. The ideal candidate should have three or more years of legal experience. Experience with the Freedom of Information Act is preferred, but not required. Ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload effectively in order to meet compliance deadlines is essential. This position requires precise and effective oral and written communication skills.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, the salary starts at $62,000.
