The Public Access Bureau of the Office of the Illinois Attorney General seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Attorney General. The Public Access Bureau's duties include reviewing denials of requests to inspect or copy public records under the Freedom of Information Act and examining allegations of a public body's violation of the requirements of the Open Meetings Act. Candidates must possess excellent legal research and writing skills, and must also be able to communicate effectively with citizens, government officials and members of the media. Former journalism or local government experience with both the Freedom of Information Act and Open Meetings Act is preferred. Candidates must be licensed in Illinois at the time of application. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience with the Freedom of Information Act, the Open Meetings Act or media-related issues.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, the salary starts at $50,508.
