The Office of the Illinois Attorney General is seeking to fill an Assistant Attorney General position in its Civil Rights Bureau. The Civil Rights Bureau investigates complaints and allegations of a pattern or practice of illegal discrimination under the Illinois Human Rights Act, and litigates to enforce civil rights laws. The Bureau has been involved in investigating violations of the Human Rights Act involving English-only policies, racial profiling, religious discrimination, employment discrimination, housing discrimination, and also defended at trial the constitutionality of a State agency's affirmative action program. The Bureau also participates in community outreach programs.
An applicant should have between 3 -5 years experience, be a skilled litigator, be committed to aggressively enforcing state and federal Civil Rights laws, and have excellent communication skills.
Salary and Qualifications: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, the salary range is $50,500 to $67,500. Candidates must be licensed by the State of Illinois and have at least 3 years of litigation experience.
